Our story
Luke and Suzie Dalien started Special Ed Resource in 2014 with one belief: there’s a different way children can learn, and every child deserves the chance to reach their excellence. Luke leads as founder, and Suzie brings the classroom expertise as a Master’s-level educator (M.Ed.), making sure what we do is grounded in what actually helps children learn.
As parents of a son with special needs, the work is personal for them too. They understand the worry, the IEP meetings and the search for the right support, because they have lived it. That experience shapes how we talk with families: honestly, warmly and without pressure.

How we work with Georgia families
- Online and one-to-one. Every session is live online with one of our own teachers, so families anywhere in Georgia use the same online format; we confirm a teacher and schedule with you.
- Georgia Promise families can pay through the Marketplace. Special Ed Resource is an approved provider in the Georgia Promise Scholarship Odyssey Marketplace, and families who pay privately are welcome too. See paying for our tutoring with Georgia Promise.
- Academic tutoring. Reading, writing, math and study skills for children with IEPs, 504 plans, dyslexia, ADHD, autism and other learning differences. We do not provide therapy, speech services or evaluations.
- Accurate program information. Our Georgia Promise guides are written from Georgia law, the program regulations and GESA and Odyssey publications, with the school year on every figure and links to the official sources.
Program status: In August 2026, families filed a lawsuit in DeKalb County Superior Court (Sands v. Green) challenging the rule that students must first attend public school, according to the families’ lawyers and news reports. As of October 2, 2026, we have found no report of a ruling, and the program is operating for the 2026-27 school year. Read about the lawsuit.
The Special Ed Resource family
Beyond tutoring, Special Ed Resource offers IEP Momentum, a membership for parents navigating IEPs, and support for families who homeschool through Homeschool Momentum and a personalized homeschool plan. These are paid directly to Special Ed Resource; we don’t claim Georgia Promise funds cover them. Our main website is specialedresource.com.
